According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the measure aims to increase investments in logistics for the oil and derivatives industry to stabilize prices through reduced vessel chartering costs.<\/p>\n<p>The MP allows for accelerated depreciation of new tankers built in Brazilian shipyards by December 31, 2026, and stablishes that those tankers should be operational for coastal petroleum transport from January 1, 2027. This accelerated depreciation, to be further regulated by a Federal Government decree, will reduce IRPJ (Portuguese acronym for the Corporate Income Tax) and CSLL (Portuguese acronym for the Social Contribution on Net Profit) for eligible companies.
