Anvisa updates navigation's sanitary protocols
In view of the proliferation of covid-19 cases among the crew of cargo ships and platforms in Brazil, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), through the Resolution No. 605, of February 11th, 2022, updated its previous rules (Resolution No. 584, of December 8th, 2021).
In order to contain outbreaks of covid-19 on vessels, Anvisa stipulated more restrictive measures to control the embarkation and disembarkation of crew members, highlighting:
- laboratory test carried out with maximum advance notice of 48 hours;
- a program to monitor the health of port workers that includes periodic testing protocols;
- isolation of the crew member with suspicion, confirmation, or even those who are symptomatic but tested negative.
The new measures reinforce what is contained in the Interministerial Ordinances MTP/MS 20, of July 18th, 2020 and MTP/MS 14, of January 20th, 2022, issued by the Ministry of the State of Labor and Social Security, and the Ministry of the State of Health, emphasizing the joint action of various bodies of the Executive Branch, aiming to refrain covid-19 and intent to guarantee greater safety to the crew in the performance of their duties.
