Ordinance No. 1.330 concerning sports betting has been published
Recently, the Ministry of Finance, in creating regulations for fixed-odd betting marketing in Brazil, also called sports betting, published an ordinance that allows players to express their interest in participating in the authorization, which is expected to be initiated soon.
According to the Ordinance, legal entities interested in applying for authorization for the commercial exploitation of sports betting will be able to express their interest in advance, which will guarantee priority in the analysis of authorization requests.
Although the parameters for authorization have not yet been fully disclosed - in addition to those already provided for in Provisional Measure No. 1,182/2023 - the prior statement is an interesting opportunity as it can guarantee priority in the analysis of the authorization request. The statement will be made using a standard form in which the organizations have to provide basic information about the interested legal entity, as well as information about its operations, such as the activities it intends to explore and whether it already has authorization to operate sports betting in other countries.
The Ministry of Finance has made the form template available, and it must be submitted by November 28, 2023.
The Compliance and Technology & Communication teams are available for any queries.
